Create NSW’s Arts and Cultural Funding Program provides funding opportunities for arts and cultural organisations, professional artists and arts/cultural workers across a wide range of artforms and disciplines.
Small Project Grants (Quick Response) support the creation, development and presentation of new work and professional development opportunities for NSW-based professional artists and arts and cultural workers. This quick response grant offers grants from $500 to $5,000 towards projects.
UK/Australia Season 2021/22 explores and celebrates the relationship between Australia and the United Kingdom (UK) across the arts, creative industries, and higher education. Organisations can apply for up to $100,000 to present work in the UK after March 2022.
Write North Residency is delivered in partnership with Byron Writers’ Festival to support the professional practice of writers’ group in NSW. The successful writers’ group will undertake a mentorship in Byron Bay with acclaimed author Charlotte Wood.

NSW Visual Arts (Emerging) Fellowship is delivered in partnership with Artspace to support the professional practice of an emerging visual arts practitioner in NSW. Eight shortlisted artists will exhibit new or existing works for this Fellowship. For this year the exhibition will take place at the National Art School. The successful recipient, selected from the shortlist, will undertake a self-directed professional development program.
NSW Aboriginal Creative Fellowship with the State Library of NSW provides an opportunity for an artist, knowledge holder or creative practitioner to undertake creative research that will work towards a presentation outcome at the State Library of NSW. Worth $30,000 the successful applicant will engage with the State Library of NSW’s Indigenous collection.
NSW Aboriginal Curator Placement Fellowship with the Art Gallery of NSW provides an opportunity for two early career visual arts curators to work closely with the AGNSW to deliver two key curatorial and regional projects. The placements will receive support and professional and $30,000 fellowship funding each. Regionally based curators are encouraged to apply.
Play the City (Sydney): NSW Artists and Musicians Grants Round Two invests in a program of activities, events or performances that activate the Sydney CBD. This grant offers up to $50,000 towards a one-off or series of live performances to be held in the CBD of Sydney between 31 March 2021 – 30 June 2021.
Incubator – NSW Theatre (Emerging) Fellowship with Griffin Theatre Company supports artist development across the theatre industry in NSW. Four emerging theatre practitioners in the early stages of their career will be selected for a three-month residency at Griffin Theatre Company to undertake creative development of new work for potential production by Griffin, and professional mentorship with the company. At the completion of the three months, the Fellowship recipient will be selected from the shortlist to undertake a self-directed program of professional development.
New Dimensions – NSW Visual Artist (Established) Fellowship with Museum of Contemporary Art Australia – this Fellowship will support the ongoing professional practice of visual arts practitioners in NSW. The successful recipient will undertake a self-directed professional development program or a significant opportunity to support their personal creative practice and career advancement and work with the MCA to develop a project appropriate to their practice.
NSW Musical Theatre Fellowship with Hayes Theatre Co – this fellowship will support a composer, writer and/or creative team of devisors to research and develop a new work of musical theatre, with the support of Hayes Theatre Co. and the $25,000 Fellowship funding.
Conductor: NSW Orchestral Conducting Fellowship with Sydney Youth Orchestras – this fellowship will support an to support the emerging and early career professional practice of an orchestral conductor with $20,000 Fellowship funding and delivered in partnership with Sydney Youth Orchestras.

Generations – NSW Music (Early Career) Fellowship is a Creative Leadership opportunity for early career contemporary musicians. Delivered by Create NSW in partnership with Powerhouse Museum and Astral People, this program is designed to connect emerging artists in the early stages of their career with established artists supporting intergenerational knowledge and experience within the music industry. Funding includes $25,000 in financial support and studio space for 6 months at the Powerhouse Museum (Ultimo) or Museum’s Discovery Centre (Castle Hill) during 2021.

Local Government Authority Arts & Cultural Funding supports Local Government arts and cultural activities that deliver great arts and cultural outcomes for audiences, employs artists and arts and cultural workers to produce new work and partner with others to create unique experiences, events and activities. Requests may be for one, two or three years of support.
Regional Local Government Authorities: Regional Cultural Fund (RCF) Digitisation Round aims to maximise the reach of funds by embedding digitisation resources and expertise in regional arts and cultural organisations through enhanced partnership networks and showcase regional collections by complete the collections and stories website.

COVID-19 Initiatives were targeted at addressing the issues raised by the sector regarding COVID-19’s impact on their arts practice and the well-being of the arts and cultural sector. These opportunities supported the creation of new work, adapting to current work to digital platforms and engagement with audiences through online portals and to develop events and activities for when restrictions are lifted.

Service Needs Strategic Fund meets demand for additional professional development and capacity-building services across the arts and cultural sector.
Small Project Grants for Make Music Day 2021 supports musicians to deliver a program of music on Sunday 20 June and/or Monday 21 June 2021. Six grants of $15,000 are available.
Regional Arts Touring projects that provide access to arts and culture for audiences living in regional NSW and for regional NSW artists and organisations to tour their work to Sydney and Western Sydney. Funding is available for tours of all artforms, including performing arts, music, visual arts, literature, history, museums and multi-arts.

Frequency Initiative for Arts and Culture in partnership with Audible will support the creation and development of new podcast series from eight established and emerging storytellers across various genres to the value of up to $30,000 each.
