NSW Aboriginal Arts and Cultural Strategy 2015 – 2018: Connection, Culture, Pathways
Aboriginal arts and cultural expression is a vital part of contemporary Aboriginal society, and is an important element to the social fabric of Aboriginal people and communities throughout Australia.
NSW has the largest Aboriginal population in Australia with a unique contemporary Aboriginal arts and cultural sector. The sector plays an important role in maintaining, enhancing and transmitting culture as Aboriginal artists seek to develop their own practice and find inspiration through their culture and environment.

Stage Two: Aboriginal Arts and Cultural Strategy 2015 – 2018
Connection, Culture, Pathways 2015 – 2018 is a key action under the Government’s arts and cultural policy for NSW – the NSW Arts and Cultural Policy Framework – Create in NSW.
Continuing the vision of the Stage One Strategy it will build on the achievements of the last five years and focus in particular on Direction four. Develop career pathways and opportunities.
Stage Two of the Strategy will aim to build employment capability in a strong, contemporary multi-disciplinary Aboriginal arts and cultural sector in NSW.
Create NSW will therefore continue to invest in those programs developed under the original strategy which have demonstrated effectiveness in increasing profesisonal employment opportunities for Aboriginal arts practitioners and for which there is sustained demand.
