Make Music Day is a global celebration of music making across more than 1000 cities around the world and now in its fourth year in NSW.

Originating in France in 1982, Make Music Day is a day of FREE music everywhere all around the city and towns –including street corners, parks, rooftops, gardens, and shop fronts. Unlike a typical music festival, anyone and everyone is invited to join and play music, or host performances.

Create NSW continues to partner with the Australian Music Association and Live Music Office to build support for Make Music Day by collaborating with Transport NSW, Education and Training, Arts Unit, School Infrastructure, Correction Services, Women in NSW, Communities and Justice and Planning, Industry and Environment. Whilst also working with Music NSW, APRA AMCOS, Sydney Olympic Park, TAFE NSW, Western Sydney University, Local Government NSW, Art Gallery of NSW, Australian Institute of Music amongst others bringing Make Music Day to life.

Make Music Day enables musicians to perform in a range of spaces and forge new partnerships for opportunities for musicians and audiences. In 2021, Create NSW will focus on;

  • International Collaborations;
  • New Partnerships;
  • Supporting Women in Music

Make Music Day, Monday 21st June 2021, aims to focus on COVID Safe Live events in conjunction with digital events with local and international partners.
