Walsh Bay Arts Precinct has announced that arts and cultural organisations and festival organisers will be able to take advantage of the well-loved events space located at the northern end of Pier 2/3, following a decision by the NSW Government to dedicate it exclusively for cultural use for at least  the next two years. Boasting breathtaking harbour views, the venue will be available to host festivals, exhibitions, performances, talks and cultural events.

The 1,889 sqm event space was part of the multi-award-winning redevelopment of Pier 2/3 at Walsh Bay Arts Precinct. In honour of the Pier’s heritage significance, original heritage features were prioritised, including original iron bark columns and exposed structural timbers that give the space a unique, atmospheric aesthetic, making it ideal for a diverse range of installations and cultural events. Among the few additions, a commercial kitchen and AV facilities were added to allow efficient use for events. Earlier this year the space was used as a venue for the 23rd Biennale of Sydney, which returned to Pier 2/3 for the first time in ten years. Titled rīvus, the exhibition featured 20 commissioned artworks by leading Australian and international artists.

A premier arts and culture hub, Walsh Bay Arts Precinct is home to a vibrant program of musical concerts, dance, theatre and choral performances, classes, workshops and public events. The nine resident companies are Bangarra Dance Theatre, Gondwana Choirs, Sydney Dance Company, Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, Sydney Theatre Company and The Song Company on Wharf 4/5 and the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Australian Theatre for Young People and Bell Shakespeare on Pier 2/3.

The newly redeveloped Walsh Bay Arts Precinct is the result of $371 million investment by the NSW Government.
