Be a part of Make Music Day 2021! Create NSW is encouraging widespread community participation and engagement for Make Music Day (Sunday 20 June & Monday 21 June 2021), having facilitated a series of events for audiences and musicians with support from the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment, Transport for NSW and more.

Since launching in France in 1982 as Fête de la Musique, Make Music Day is a free celebration of music around the world on 21 June which now takes place in more than 1000 cities, towns and villages.

This year, Create NSW has partnered with the Department of Planning, Industry & Environment (DPIE) to offer six grants worth $15,000 to help fund live music events cross Sydney and will coincide with DPIE’s The Festival of Place.

From Parramatta Square, to the Art Gallery of NSW, Crescent Head Surf Life Saving Club, and our busiest railway concourses, the planned events are a fantastic opportunity to connect a diverse range of NSW musicians with the local community.

This year’s line-up includes events from TAFE NSW Eora, Sydney Conservatorium students, Meteor Infant, a string quartet called Quartet-Ed, and even performances by the Ukulele Circus.

Commuters will also be delighted at a number of train stations as performers re-imagine familiar transport hubs around Sydney with musical acts.

Make Music Day Australia is initiated by the Australian Music Association and coordinated in partnership with the Live Music Office and APRA AMCOS.
