Create NSW calls arts and cultural experts to join Artform Advisory Boards
Create NSW is calling for expressions of interest from leading arts and cultural experts across the State for appointment to the 2020/2021 Artform Advisory Boards.
The successful applicants will join our current Board Members on the 10 Artform Advisory Boards. They will assess funding applications and make funding recommendations to the Minister for the Arts for the upcoming 2020/2021 Arts and Cultural Funding Program and will provide strategic advice to the Minister on issues facing their artform.
Due to the overwhelming response from applicants last year, the Festivals and Multi-arts Board will be divided into individual boards. Classical Music, Opera and Choral will be assessed by a combined board, and Musical Theatre will now be assessed under the Theatre Board due to their similarities in artform approach.
The Aboriginal Arts and Cultural Board will expand its role this year. In addition to assessing its own applications, it will provide advice to other Boards on Aboriginal-focused content where applicants have chosen to be assessed by that specific Artform Board.
“This year’s call out to the sector encourages NSW arts and cultural leaders, from small and medium-sized organisations and major arts companies to individual practitioners and artists, to participate in shaping future funding recommendations that reflect NSW’s diverse creative eco-system,” said Create NSW Executive Director Chris Keely.
“These Boards will ensure a greater representation and depth of knowledge from the sector for the assessment of each funding application, make informed recommendations to the Minister and deliver welcomed strategic gap analysis. Changes in the composition of the Boards will also further assist our Board members in ensuring a balanced decision process.”
Selected Board members will work with Chairs, who are leading members of the arts sector, in determining their recommendations for arts and cultural funding on the following Boards:
- Aboriginal Arts and Culture Board
- Classical Music, Opera and Choral Board
- Contemporary Music Board
- Dance and Physical Theatre Board
- Literature Board
- Multi-arts Board
- Festivals Board
- Museums and History Board
- Theatre and Musical Theatre Board
- Visual Arts Board
The NSW Government is committed to ensuring appropriate representation of women, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability and young people on Government Boards and Committees. In addition, people living/working in Western Sydney and regional NSW are encouraged to apply for appointment to Artform Advisory Boards.
Expression of Interest applications for Board membership are open until 11:59pm on Friday, 21 August 2020.
Information about the 2020/2021 NSW Arts and Cultural Funding Program guidelines will be announced shortly.
