As part of its response to COVID-19 impacts, Create NSW has brought forward its call for entries for the 2020 NSW Visual Arts Fellowship (Emerging), which supports NSW-based visual artists at the start of their careers, in partnership with Sydney’s Artspace.
Up to 12 artists will be selected to receive curatorial support and mentorship from Artspace as they develop new works for an exhibition where a final Fellow will be selected to receive $30,000 from Create NSW to progress a self-directed program of professional development.
All shortlisted artists will receive a fee to participate in the exhibition and may be asked to participate in talks or other public programs.
Now in its 24th year, this opportunity usually doesn’t open until June, but we’re committed to finding ways to help artists, and especially those in their early stage careers.
Current restrictions have been taken into consideration of public health orders, aspects like curatorial ‘studio visits’, advice and mentoring will be undertaken online and through virtual communication channels so that social distancing can be observed.
A physical exhibition is still planned with Artspace in Sydney from October to December this year, and more will be announced on this in due course.
Applications for the 2020 NSW Visual Arts Fellowship (Emerging) are now open and close 5pm Tuesday 26 May 2020. Find out more information including details on how to apply here.
