COVID-19 update for Create NSW funded clients: Thursday 21 May 2020

COVID-19 update

We hope you are all well and staying safe in this ever-changing environment. We appreciate that there are many challenges your organisation is facing and we wish to assure you that we are here to help if you need assistance with your funding applications, funding agreements or need direction on where to get further advice.

We continue to recommend that all organisations and individuals follow the advice from health authorities and the NSW Government on how to manage in this COVID-19 environment, which still includes focusing on hand hygiene and physical distancing measures along with enhanced cleaning of high frequency touch points. For all the important advice for NSW communities and businesses including what you can and can’t do, please visit NSW Government – COVID 19.

You may be aware that from 1 June museums, galleries and libraries will be able to reopen their doors, and travel within NSW will be allowed, when restrictions ease, as recently announced by the NSW Premier.

This is good news, but we ask you to act with caution. You will need to ensure you have strict protocols in place to ensure your organisations are a safe place to visit and a safe workplace for your staff and volunteers. This will include limiting the number of visitors and ensuring physical distancing is adhered to, and focusing on enhanced cleaning and good hygiene measures.

The full checklist of safety precautions from NSW Health that will need to be met before you open your doors will be available on the Create NSW website by end the May. Please follow these requirements closely – the health and safety of staff and visitors at our cultural organisations and libraries is paramount.  We also recommend you refer to the Safe Work Australia website for advice on how to minimise the risk of exposure to COVID-19 in your workplace and help limit the spread to keep your staff safe.

The key message is to be well-prepared for the return of visitors, keep delivering your programs online, and stay up to date with the latest information on the NSW Government website.

It is up to each individual organisation whether you decide to reopen after restrictions ease from 1 June. Museums, galleries and libraries should make decisions about what makes the most sense for you in light of the most recent easing of restrictions and the most up to date health advice.

We will be offering an online webinar to provide insights into the safety measures and answer your questions, and will be in touch with more information on this shortly.
